Raw Materials

Bioenergy is useable energy produced from Biomass.

Biomass is organic material that can be converted into useable energy. It is found in forests, fields, barns, in industrial and manufacturing facilities, and in landfills.

Biomass includes:

  • Residues from wood processors diverted from landfill or incineration
  • Purpose grown energy crops
  • Fibre packaging diverted from landfills
  • Agricultural crop residues
  • Forest harvesting residues
  • Wood from fire and insect killed forest stands

Willow Trees

The biomass-to-energy process is true recycling on a large scale which eliminates waste and converts it into useful energy.

Canadian Biofuel will contract with local producers to grow and provide an increasing volume of purpose grown crops such as switchgrass, miscanthus, hybrid willow and black locust that are locally grown southern Ontario. 5,000 acres of cultivated purpose grown crops would annually supply a 30,000 tonne per year capacity plant.

Found Feedstocks:

  • wood
  • cardboard fibre
  • waxed cardboard
  • agricultural residues

Canadian Biofuel will procure and densify waste and virgin wood, cardboard, waxed cardboard and agricultural residues in the short term (1-3 years).

Purpose Grown Crops:

Miscanthus

Prarie Grass

Switchgrass

Hybrid Willow

Canadian Biofuel, working with local farmers, intends to have over 5,000 acres of purpose grown crops in production within a 50-70km radius of its plants. These purpose grown crops are hihgh in biomass volume and thermal value.

Canadian Biofuel will contract local producers to grow and provide an increasing volume of purpose grown crops.
